October Fishing Report
October has been good fishing at Dundee. Our guests have experienced some excellent bluewater reef fishing as well as some good palagics and the barra fishing has also pick up with the tempreture rising.
On the reefs the goldies have been really turning it on, good size fish up to 7kg are putting the hurt into some rods. Golden snapper are a great fighting fish, big ones pull a bit like a jewfish all the way to the boat. They are also one of the Top Ends most prized table fish, much sort after by local anglers. Fishing for goldies should be excellent right thru the rest of the year. Jewfish have continued their good form and are moving in on the inshore reefs around Dundee.
Spanish mackerel have continued to fish well wide of Dundee. Fish up to 15kg have had some reels screaming and a few nervous moments around the bootom of spools. They have been smashing the deep diving lures like "mac daddys" trolled along the reef edges.
Barra are moving in on the foreshore rocks and we have got a few good fish up to 96cm so far, the barra fishing should continue to improve and hopefully we can report a few over the magic meter soon.
